Stitch a Day

This is what I'm doing

At this moment I' m sitting in my training class learning about the way my company bills. It is so interesting the different ways companies have for telling you what you owe. Insurance billing is especially complicated. I'm sure that in a few weeks it will all seem relatively simple. With insurance there are so many variables, depending on which state you are talking about. You can never know everything.
I lost my job with Bank of America in January. I won't go into the reasons why, just lets say that it was and is difficult for me not to work there any more. But I like my new job, and I'm making more money to start here than I made after 9 years there. So there are compensations.
I became quite far behind in my EMS Bookmark Exchange. I will be sending out the new bookmarks hopefully this weekend. That will leave me only one behind, which is no problem. The last few months have been quite hectic and did not leave much time for anything other than stress!
My Cross Stitch Groups on Yahoo are up and running, but not many members are participating. The links, in case anyone is reading this are and
Feel free to stop by.
My son Kyle just turned 9 and we had a party for him at the park this past Saturday. We played baseball and I acted as catcher. The muscles above my knees are really sore! It made me realize just how out of shape I am. I really shouldn't be shocked considering I am over weight and want to lose at least 50 pounds. This is perfectly acheivable if I would only just get out there and exercise! I even went roller skating Saturday night with the kids and a friend of mine. I have the fever for physical fitness! Yeah!!
Check back soon. I'll be putting in pictures as soon as I have the bookmarks finished.

I've missed my blog.

It's been a while

My Goodness! I can't believe how long it has been since I blogged! Time has really gone by quickly! So much has happened over the last couple of months, I hardly know where to begin.
Christmas was a blast! We went to my mother in laws for our usual Christmas Eve party. I won a really nice electric size! I wanted this gorgeous jewelry box, but my sis in law stole it from me. Sigh....I'll get her back next year. My daughter was here for Christmas and I really enjoyed that. She will be 18 on March 2, so is getting her first apartment. I went tonight to sign her lease papers. I'm only co-signing for her for one month, though. I'm hoping that she will make a successful go of living on her own. My son Brandon fell off the bunkbed and broke his arm. So he is in a cast. He was really upset about it at first, then got excited because his arm is now "indestructable". LOL He is so cute.
My son Anthony got his saxaphone exchanged for a trumpet at school, so he is happy again. He begged and begged for that sax, and then he hated it. Figures. But he is practicing again, so that's what counts.
I switched jobs two weeks ago, so that has been a little my new class requires me to write a paper every week. So I've had little time for stitching. I'm trying to finish up my model stitch..that is my most important project. That will be done within the week. Then I can look at starting something else. I've really enjoyed this model stitch project. It has been very challenging. As soon as it's published I will post a picture of it on this site.
My class this term is called American Popular Culture. It has been very interesting. We just finished a section on advertising and the media. I wrote an 1800 word paper that was turned in Wednesday. I hope it gets a good grade. My first paper got a B, so that's not bad.
That's it for now. Hopefully I won't let this go for so long in the future! If I do, somebody send me an email!

Where has the Time Gone?

I can't believe it has almost been a month since I last blogged! Chaos and Catastrophe have been to visit...I've been sick, my mother has been sick, my husband has been sick and I hurt my back. Oh Joy! So I haven't even been stitching! But I've picked it back up so all is not lost.
I also started to knit again. I haven't done that in so long I forgot how to "cast on". I had to look it up! Sigh.....I did complete a really nice scarf, though and I'm almost through with the 2nd one.
I've joined a classic book reading group and we are reading A Christmas Carol by Dickens. I've finished it already, of course, and loved it, although it wasn't like the movies I've seen, especially the ending. But I did really enjoy it. I'm work in on Pride and Prejudice now by Jane Austen. I've read it before, I realized, but don't remember a lot of it.
Our Christmas tree is up, but has nothing on it but lights. I can't find our box of ornaments. I used to have a lot of them, but my daughter "accidently" dropped a box and and broke most of them. I need to make more cross stitch ones, don't I?
The ornaments I sent to my buddy were received by her and she loved them. I'm so glad I made a set for her instead of just one. One would have looked too lonely.

I received this Wonderful Harry Potter bookmark from K. Richards in Australia. She is in the same EMS bookmark exchange as I am. Thank you so much! I truely love it! Posted by Hello

Nutcracker Christmas Ornaments I made for an exchange. I wasn't going to post about them, but then the person I have in the exchange doesn't know I have her, plus she may not even have this site here they are, for all of you to see. I still need to trim them up with an exacto knife and put a little fray check on the edges...but basically this is what they look like. Cute, huh? Posted by Hello

This is my 2nd attempt at a blackwork bookmark. The picture on the right was the first one. I like it very much, but I unfortunately damaged it while in the finishing stage. I did it again in purple, but this time I decided to leave out the busy work. They have quite different effects, don't you think? I sent out the 2nd one to my exchange partner. Posted by Hello

The start of another week

Well, It's Sunday. I worked this morning and I'm bushed! Sometimes I wonder if it is worth it to work the 4-10 shift, but then I get 3 days off and I know it is. I tend to get way behind on my email during my work week though. Imagine, I'm feeling guilty because I'm not sitting in front of this computer talking with all my friends. LOL...I should be feeling guilty because Sunday - Wednesday I don't feel like doing the laundry, cooking or cleaning. But of course those are things I have to do.
I received my model stitching project yesterday and I started it last night. I took it to work this morning and got quite a bit done, although not as much as I had hoped. We were actually kind of busy. I do like busy days, though. They make the day fly by. I had several people with lost or stolen cards today. And one poor guy found his card just after I finished reporting it lost. Now he still has to wait for the new one because once it's reported, that number is gone forever. Oh well, let that be a lesson to any one who reads this. Make sure your card is actually missing before you call up your credit card company. Another poor guy had just stepped out of his cab in L.A. and got his things out of the car and the cabbie took off with out giving back the guys card! Go figure. What an idiot that cabbie is. Thankfully he had his personal card on him for this business trip so he won't be without money. I fed-exed his new card to his business office so he'll have it on Tuesday when he gets back.
Well, that was basically my day. Tony fixed dinner...French toast and scrambled eggs. Geez, when I go easy on the dinner like that he gets all upset. But I didn't complain. It was good and I didn't have to cook it! You'd have thought he would have done the dishes today though...Yeah...I like to complain...It's one of the things I do best. LOL But seriously, it was good of him to cook for me.
Well, off to bed. It's after 9 pm and if I'm to be up at 3:30 I'd better get some shut eye.
Keep on stitchin'
